21 new projects are warming up for the 15th edition of the WEMW Co-Production Forum
After a long and careful selection process covering an impressive pool of 500 submissions from all over the world, we are thrilled to unveil the complete line-up for this year’s Co-Production Forum, a fine selection of 21 projects now warming up for their official showcase in January in Trieste.
This year’s line-up includes 10 creative documentaries, 9 live action features and 2 animation shorts coming from 14 countries. All the selected projects will be presented – most of them for the very first time – to more than 550 decision makers and film professionals from over 60 countries, granting a unique opportunity to open new and exciting creative horizons together
A compelling range of voices and styles
This year’s selection will take you once again on a remarkable journey across genres, countries and cultures, offering a variety of bold narrative languages, unspoken truths and new takes on the current world we live in.
As in past editions, our line-up will feature several first-time directors whose previous shorts and documentaries were selected at major festivals, such as Leila Basma (Sea Salt, Venice International Film Festival – Orizzonti 2023), Paul Vincent de Lestrade (A Good Boy, Public Award at Premiers Plans Angers 2023) and Davide Maldi (The Young Observant, Locarno Film Festival 2019).
As usual, we will also meet experienced authors who are developing their new projects, including Milica Tomović (Celts, Berlin International Film Festival – Panorama section 2021), Gregor Božič (Stories from the Chestnut Woods, Toronto International Film Festival 2019), Aistė Žegulytė (Animus Animalis, DOK Leipzig 2018), Sonia Liza Kenterman (Tailor, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2020), Vallo Toomla (Pretender, San Sebastian International Film festival – New Directors Section 2016) and Martin Pav (Wolves at Borders, Vision du Reel, 2020).
Prizes and Awards
All 21 projects will have the opportunity to compete for two 5.000€ cash prizes: the Film Center Serbia Development Award and the CICLIC WEMW Award (granted by the French Centre-Val de Loire Region).
Thanks to a strong and reliable network of partners, the WEMW Co-Production Forum will also feature a series of other major awards, including the EAVE Producers Workshop scholarship, the Marché du Film Producers Network Badges, the DAE Talent Development Prize, in cooperation with the EFM, the Taskovski #DocsConnect Training Award, the Pop Up Film Residency Award and the brand new GoGo25 Residency Award. Moreover, all female identifying directors will be eligible for the EWA Network’s Award for Equality & Inclusion, of the value of 500€ & 1 EWA Network Year Membership.
There’s more!
Alongside the Co-Production Forum, WEMW 2025 will soon disclose the final selection of the other sections: Last Stop Trieste, This is IT, First Cut+ and First Cut Lab Trieste, the fourth edition of the EAVE Slate and 10 exciting Inspirational Labs.
Stay tuned to discover all our selected works in progress and participants!
