WEMW unveils all the secrets of the WIP sessions, EAVE Slate and Inspirational Labs
The 15th edition of When East Meets West kicks off in less than one month and we can’t wait to bring back to Trieste over 550 film professionals from more than 50 different countries.
Following the recent announcement of the Co-Production Forum project selection, WEMW is excited to unveil the complete line-up for its sections dedicated to films in post-production stage: Last Stop Trieste, This Is IT, First Cut+ and First Cut Lab Trieste.
Marking its 11th edition, Last Stop Trieste, the fine-cut section run together with the Trieste Film Festival, will showcase 5 creative documentaries previously selected in one of the partner platforms: Ex-Oriente Film Workshop, BDC Discoveries, Docu Rough Cut Boutique, Baltic Sea Docs, ZagrebDox PRO and WEMW Co-Production Forum.
All films will be in the running for the Film Centre of Montenegro Award, a cash prize of 2.000€, the long-standing HBO Award, cash prize of 1.000€ and the Arte Video Award, consisting in the complete colour grading of the whole film, DCP, MASTER and LTO archiving for a total value of 10.000€.

For the 8th edition, When East Meets West and Trieste Film Festival will renew the partnership with Milano Film Network for the section exclusively dedicated to feature films and hybrid works with a strong visual and artistic approach, produced/co-produced by Italian producers or coming from any of the East & West 2025 spotlight territories. This Is IT will present a total of 8 works in progress ready for festival premiere and international distribution, all of them competing for the Laser Film Award, consisting in 4 days of colour grading services and 1 DCP for a total value of 10.000€.

WEMW is also proud to host once again the international works in progress section First Cut+ and to introduce 8 promising titles with 10 different countries involved to all attending sales and festival programmers.
The new-format of First Cut Lab Trieste will bring back to WEMW two projects selected at the Co-Production Forum in previous years to take part in a tailor-made editing workshop.

Last but not least, WEMW is also happy to announce the 12 companies from 12 European and Latin American territories selected for the 4thedition of the programme EAVE Slate, and the 124 participants from 37 different countries who will be part of the Inspirational Labs run in collaboration with ACE Producers, CEE Animation Workshop, ESoDoc, EURODOC, Fantastic Film Forum of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, Investors Circle by Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, MIDPOINT Institute, SpielFabrique, and in partnership with Catalan Films, CNC, Moldovan National Film Center, Czech Film Center, Film Center of Montenegro, Film Commission Vallée d’Aoste, Fondazione Apulia Film Commission, Fondazione Toscana Film Commission, Fondazione Veneto Film Commission, German Films, Greek Film Center, Programa IBERMEDIA, ICAA – Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute, Icelandic Film Centre, IDM Film Commission Südtirol, MOIN, Polish Film Institute, RE-ACT and Telefilm Canada.
